Welcome to Reel Faith

This website is a work in progress, but we seek to provide tools to help you to engage in discussion about films with the people around you, to look at the overarching biblical themes and gospel truths that can be found through any cinematic experience.

We're not here just to give you handy little clips with discussion starters (although they may appear from time to time) But rather to try and give you the tools to engage with entire films, genres and indeed the  whole of the cinematic experience (maybe even including the popcorn and queueing experience) in your work or discussions with the people around you, be they young or old, animation or horror fans.

So what can you expect?

You'll find a couple of blogs:

These are to give you an idea of where we as authors are coming from, our thoughts and responses to the cinematic experiences we have.

A growing tool box:

Some suggestions and questions on how to engage with new films, old films, genres, young people, old people, small groups, large groups... etc!

Different starting points:

While other resources often start with a film and break it down to fit the gospel, we want to start with a theme and work out how it is being communicated in the world of film, through the meta-narratives of the film, the story and the characters.

A chance to interact:

This could be a huge project. We haven't seen every film ever made, and there are many, to be perfectly honest, that we never want to see! But the reality is that they are made because people want to watch them. We'd love to hear how you use films in your work and interactions, and maybe particularly how you dialogue with people about the films that appal you yet people are watching (be that "High School Musical" or "The Human Centipede"!).
